Cayce-West Columbia Dixie Youth All-Star Team goes 4-1 in District Four Subdivision Tournament
Talented youngsters prevail in close contests on the diamond plus extra innings title game to reach state tournament
Cayce, SC (James Bowers) - The 2018 edition of the Cayce-West Columbia (CWC) Dixie Youth All-Star team put together an impressive 4-1 record in the Dixie Youth District Four Subdivision Tournament adding another accomplishment to the club’s sixty-plus year history. The team, consisting of players selected from all teams in the organization’s “minor” leagues, played valiantly in the tournament. One game was won on a stolen base while the final game required extra innings for the CWC boys to find victory. As a reward for their efforts, they will head to the Dixie Youth State Tournament to be held from July 13-21 in Moncks Corner. If they win the state tournament, the squad could head to the Dixie Youth World Series national event in Lumberton, NC. It would be a great achievement for the already storied CWC clubs.
The Cayce-West Columbia Dixie Youth and the Mohawk Baseball club has operated as a united organization since 1986. This merger combined the two Cayce and West Columbia area clubs which were founded separately in 1955. Since then, thousands of the area’s boys have played their first baseball with this organization. Leaders say the organization dedicates itself to developing its players both on and off the field.
