South Congaree mobile home heavily damaged by fire

South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was heavily damaged after catching fire on Tuesday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. in South Congaree. The home was located on Skyview Drive off Oak Street in the small strip of mobile homes behind the United Neighbors Building. Even though this is within 100-yards of the fire station, there was already smoke coming out of the home when firefighters were called.

Ladder 5, Squad 5, and Battalion #2 were quickly on the scene and the chief reported that smoke was coming from the home. The crews quickly entered the home, attacked the fire, and brought it under control in minutes. Other crews began to arrive on the scene from Gaston, Sharpe’s Hill, and Edmund and backed up the first firefighters searching the home for occupants and any hidden fire. An EMS crew was on the scene checking the firefighters coming out of the home due to temperatures that were already in the mid-70’s and climbing fast. The South Congaree Police Department had several officers arrive on the scene to assist in whatever way they could.

The fire service hasn’t yet released the exact cause of the fire and it doesn’t appear as if anyone was injured. The home was heavily damaged by the smoke and flames of the fire.
