Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identifies victim of a homicide in West Columbia

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the name of the man that was shot and killed on Glenn Street shortly after 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 900 block.

According to Coroner Fisher, Samir Bernard Atkins, 26, of West Columbia suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. Two additional victims were transported to area hospitals. One of those people is reportedly in critical condition, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The West Columbia Police Department is leading the investigating in this case.
