Lexington PD on the scene of an armed robbery on North Lake Drive

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington police officers are on the scene of an armed robbery Tuesday afternoon at the Food Lion on North Lake Drive in Lexington. The incident happened at 2:52 p.m. According to the victim who is an elderly female, a young man approached her in the parking lot of the businesses close to the grocery store and Little Caesar’s Pizza where he brandished a knife and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot toward the CVS.

The victim appears to be unharmed and has provided officers with a good description of the suspect. He is said to be a white male, in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing short pants, a blue polo style shirt, a cap, and sunglasses. Although he ran from the scene, officers are unsure if he had a car nearby to aid in his escape or is still on foot. If he did have a car for his escape, he may have an accomplice that was waiting with the vehicle for him. The victim said that he might also be armed with a pistol but could not describe the firearm.

Multiple Lexington officers arrived on the scene within moments of receiving the call. Just after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, they were saturating the area. They have also notified other agencies in the surrounding jurisdictions in case the suspect is no longer in the town. They have also asked for a tracking K-9 with a handler which arrived on the scene about 3:30 p.m.

If anyone sees a suspect that matches the description of this young man, they should not approach him or try to intercede. You should immediately call (803) 785-2521 or 911. As always, tips can be made through Crimestoppers at 1-888-Crime SC. You can also make tips through their website at
