“God’s Closet” store looking for volunteers to sort clothing today
Volunteers may come to 6801 St. Andrews Road, Suite 11-B between 9-11 a.m. & 1-3 p.m.
Columbia, SC (James Bowers) - For nearly ten years, God’s Closet has provided a way for underprivileged families to outfit their children. The ministry provides free clothes, shoes, and accessories to families in need. Sizes range from toddler to teenagers. Since the Seventh-Day Adventist Church launched these outreaches in Spokane, WA in 2009, the mission expanded nationwide, eventually reaching Columbia, SC.
Each quarter, the organization holds a shopping opportunity at one of the area’s churches. This quarter’s God’s Closet event will be held on Sunday, August 5 at the Irmo Seventh Day Adventist Church. The organization relies entirely on donations and they’ve received plenty for the upcoming market. Sorting all of the apparel is a big job, and they need your help.
The Irmo SDA is seeking volunteers to come by today (07/13/2018) to help organize clothing. Volunteers will arrange items by size and age group and discard those that are soiled or damaged
There is no sign-up process required and there is no cost. Volunteers just need to come to the church on St. Andrews Road anytime between 9–11 a.m. or from 1-3 p.m. People who volunteer today are entitled to ONE (1) shopping trip, provided that they contribute significant effort to the work today.
