West Columbia police in early stages of carjacking investigation

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) - The West Columbia PD is investigating an alleged carjacking that occurred on the on-ramp to I-26 at Augusta Rd. Monday morning just before 7:00 a.m. According to Assistant Chief Scott Morrison, two cars were involved in a minor rear-end collision when two men allegedly jumped from one of the cars, presented a handgun, and fled with the other car. The vehicle supposedly then got onto the interstate heading west toward Sunset Blvd.

This investigation is in its very early stages. Chief Morrison has said that he will release more information as the case evolves.
