God’s Closet Shopping has event set for this Sunday at Quail Valley Shopping Center
Only $1.00 entry fee required for disadvantaged families to receive clothing for ages and sizes that range from newborns to teenagers
Irmo, SC (James Bowers) - Preparing for back-to-school can be a tough time for us all financially and emotionally. Now, parents who are struggling financially can receive a little help at Quail Valley Shopping Center on St. Andrews Road this Sunday, when the Irmo Seventh-Day Adventist Church holds the second “God’s Closet” event from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
Disadvantaged families need only a $1.00 entry fee to access high-quality clothing for children ranging in age from newborns to teenagers. The clothing consists of everything from onesies to jackets, jeans, shorts, khakis, t-shirts, dress shirts, shoes, and hats. Organizer Sandra Sturkie says that community members donated enough clothing to fill 100 27-gallon containers and these are clothes that are in fashion today and should appeal to even the pickiest of teens.
Sturkie says that the God’s Closet project is a mission of the Seventh-Day Adventist church that began in Spokane, WA in 2009. The Sunday event will be the second ever for Irmo’s SDA congregation, an outreach to the community. This time however, they will have even more clothing options than the first.
The Quail Valley Shopping Center is located at 6801 St. Andrews Road, and the event will be held in its Suite 11B, across from Irmo High School. For more information, call Sandra Sturkie at (803) 200-1903 or email her at sandra@godscloset.com.
