Accidental shooting at Jim Hudson Ford in Lexington

Lexington, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - A gunshot went off at Jim Hudson Ford on West Main Street in Lexington on Friday, August 17 at approximately 12:10 p.m. It was first reported to police and first responders as in the sales area of the dealership.

According to people who were on the scene when the incident occurred, a child was left in a vehicle while their parents discussed business at the dealership's service center. The child found an unsecured loaded gun in the glove box of the car and accidentally discharged the firearm injuring themselves.

The child was transported to a nearby medical center. Their condition is unknown at this time.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department's Twitter page, the department will be on scene investigating further for some time. The dealership's service center and main dealership office will remain open during the investigation.
