Teens charged with vehicle tampering
Lexington, SC (September 7, 2018) – Chief Terrence Green said Friday that two of the suspects involved in a series of theft from motor vehicle and auto tampering incidents that occurred in the Woodcreek neighborhood on Augusta Road in Lexington, South Carolina have been identified and arrested.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. on June 15, 2018, three male suspects were seen on surveillance cameras within the Woodcreek neighborhood walking vehicle to vehicle opening car doors looking for items to steal from the center console and glove box. Numerous unsecured vehicles were rummaged through and officers took reports from several victims who had items of value stolen.
Through the course of this investigation detectives were able to identify Timothy Trapp Mcrae, age 17 of Columbia, South Carolina along with a juvenile male subject, age 16 from Columbia, South Carolina as being involved in these incidents.
A third suspect who was involved in these cases continues to be unidentified. He is described as a tall thin build teenage black male who was seen on surveillance video involved in these incidents within the neighborhood.
Timothy Trapp Mcrae is currently being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on unrelated charges and he has a pending warrant for Theft from Motor Vehicle with the Lexington Police Department.
The juvenile male subject is being handled through the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Family Court.
