Batesburg-Leesville mayor asking for volunteers to assist Red Cross

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lancer Shull, the mayor of the town of Batesburg-Leesville, is asking community organizations if they are willing to provide volunteers to assist the American Red Cross with a pressing situation in the Saluda area. In an e-mail to members of the B&L Rotary Club and the area’s Chamber of Commerce, Shull said he had received a call from Marilyn Crady who said she has an emergency situation developing. Shull’s e-mail said, “The Red Cross is needing to open an emergency shelter in Saluda and they are in need of 6 to 8 event-based volunteers. The volunteers would need to be ready to deploy within the next 24 to 48 hours. There is a short online Red Cross training video that would need to be viewed and then you could be certified to assist during this event.”

Anyone who is interested in helping is asked to call Ms. Crady at 410-733-1775 as soon as possible. There is a need for 24-hour volunteers, so you may need to service during the night hours.
