One seriously injured in house fire near Three Fountains

Three Fountains, SC (Paul Kirby) - One person received life-threatening injuries after a house caught fire in the 200 block of Ivey Field Road Thursday afternoon. This is in proximity to the Wal-Mart neighborhood market off Emmanuel Church Road. The fire, which was reported about 3:00 p.m., was reported as a working fire by the first county firefighters to arrive. They said that heavy smoke was coming from the home and immediately went into a rescue mode after learning that someone might still be trapped in the home. Within moments of the first team’s arrival, they had located and removed one person from the burning home.

A second fire truck laid a supply line in from the nearest fire hydrant while attack crews advanced their fire hoses and quickly brought the fire under control. The injured person was treated on scene by the EMS crew that had responded before being transported to a local medical facility. That crew had requested that a Lifenet helicopter respond, but the aircrew declined the flight because of inclement weather.

According to Harrison Cahill, spokesman for Lexington County, 20 county first responders were on the scene along with 9 fire and EMS units. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by personnel from the fire service and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
