Coroner identifies victim of fatal Irmo car crash

Irmo, SC - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the 5900 block of Bush River Road at approximately 11:45 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

According to Coroner Fisher, Guy Wardell Barkdull, Jr., 62, of Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Barkdull’s vehicle left the roadway to the left side, traveled down an embankment, and struck a tree. Mr. Barkdull was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred. The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
