Coroner identifies man killed in hit-and-run in Gaston
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the man who was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a truck and killed in Gaston Friday morning. The truck who struck the man then fled the scene. This collision occurred in the 300 block of Main Street near Sprahler Street in Gaston at approximately 5:50 a.m. on September 21, 2018.
According to Coroner Fisher, Christopher Samson Sharpe, 54, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Fisher said that Sharpe was riding his bicycle in the median when he was struck by the truck that was travelling toward Columbia.
The collision is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s MAIT unit.
