Sunday gunshot off Platt Springs reported to be an accident according to family
South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) According to a family member, the gunshot wound that was inflicted Sunday afternoon near Platt Springs and Steele Roads was an accident. The family member, who did not grant permission to have his name used, said the gun had been cleaned, was reloaded, and went off at sometime during that process.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Lexington EMS, and the fire service responded to the home just north of South Congaree shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday. One person was transported to a medical facility with what was reported to be non-life-threatening injuries. The sheriff’s department acknowledged the shooting via their Twitter account but gave no details. They only said that they weren’t currently searching for a suspect in the shooting.
