B-L Elementary to present Annie Jr.
Batesburg-Leesville, SC - B-L Elementary School has plans to present the Broadway musical Annie Jr. on May 18, 2019 at the Lexington County School District Three Fine Arts Center. There will be two shows on that day--one at 11 o’clock am and one at 5 o’clock pm.
All third through fifth grade students are encouraged to audition for the musical, as there will be a need for around 40 cast members and 12 crew members. Some of the characters that will be cast include Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, Grace Farrell, the orphans, and Sandy (the dog). Auditions for these and other roles are tentatively planned to be held in November. More information about the dates will be forthcoming. The crew will be in charge of setting the scenes, creating the props and scenery, and coming up with choreography.
After winter break, once auditions have been held and characters have been assigned, the cast will begin rehearsing on Mondays from 2:30 until 3:30 pm and at least one Saturday a month at B-L Elementary School.
Tickets for the main event will go on sale one month prior to the show. The cost per ticket will be $5.00 for adults and kids, with children five and under being admitted for free. Tickets will also be sold at the door pending seat availability. Annie Jr. is adapted from the book Annie, which was written by Thomas Meehan.
Annie Jr.’s music was composed by Charles Strouse and the lyrics were written by Martin Charnin.
