Family first business brings 25 jobs to Lexington

Lexington, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – WingPlace, located at 5230 Sunset Blvd Suite I in Lexington, held its grand opening celebration on September 22.

Dick and Laurel Dickerson have owned their WingPlace in Aiken for 12 years, so you can expect the same kind of commitment and hard work from their new Lexington location. With a large patio and 16 beers on draft, they have a lot to be proud of.

They feature a big menu with a lot more than just wings. They take pride in their salads and sandwiches which originally all came from Laurel. Their craft beer variety sets them apart from other bar and grills. Out of their 16 beers on draft, 13 are local craft beers coming from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Many specialty cocktails are also available.

“Lexington is growing, thriving and friendly. We have family here, but it just seems to be a big city with the heart of a small town,” the Dickerson’s said in an email. They have children, grandchildren and other family members all in Lexington County. They also hired 25 employees to work in their new restaurant between kitchen and wait staff. The couple are able to keep staff and customers because they believe in being honest and treating others with respect.

They chose to locate at the Lowes Foods shopping center because it boarders Hope Ferry Road. If you can come from that direction, you can avoid the traffic of Sunset Blvd. in that part of Lexington. If not, the corner at least has a stop light.

"Enter as Strangers - Leave as Friends." That is their motto. Dick and Laurel not only take pride in their food and beer but also how they run their business and treat their customers.

WingPlace is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can visit their website at http://www.wing-place.com.
