Fatal collision shuts down road at I-20 and South Lake Drive

Lexington, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – A fatal collision with injuries occurred on South Lake Drive (SC-6) at Interstate 20 at approximately 10:00 a.m. today, October 16.

According to firefighters, one person was heavily entrapped. An ambulance left the scene en route to a near trauma center with a fireman driving.

The Lexington Police Department posted on their Twitter page that the outbound lanes of South Lake Drive at I-20 are closed and will be for several hours while they conduct an investigation of the accident. Outbound lanes are being directed onto I-20, and inbound lanes are open.

Update:

Exit 55A on Interstate 20 westbound is closed due to the wreck. The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is assisting Lexington PD with traffic and asking the public to take alternative routes if possible.
