Kindergarten students answer call for hurricane victims
LEXINGTON, SC — Kindergarten teachers at Lake Murray Elementary sent out an all-hands-on-deck call to students and parents asking for donations for the victims of Hurricane Florence. In return, they received a generous response from the school’s kindergarten families.
During lessons about “Being There” and “Making Someone’s Day,” LMES teachers discussed empathy, compassion and the importance of giving back to outside the immediate community. Students put what they learned into practice by collecting donations.
Families donated enough items to fill three large plastic bins. They collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, hairbrushes, shampoo, diapers, wipes and various other items.
LMES sent these donations to Horry County Schools for families affected by Hurricane Florence.
