‘You’ve Been BOOed’ by Springdale PD
Springdale, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – Springdale Police Department officers have BOOed 14 homes and businesses in their community in the Halloween spirit. Participants are then encouraged to send the BOO forward to another neighbor.
According to Springdale PD’s Facebook page, the “packs” include some treats, a “We’ve Been BOOed” postcard, and a card with the rules. The rules are:
Eat your goodies
Make a copy of the “We’ve Been BOOed” postcard and the card with the rules. Put out your “We’ve Been BOOed” page on your front door or window for people to see.
Secretly BOO 1-2 more people who have not been BOOed yet with a festive treat or surprise.
Springdale PD is trying to get as many people BOOed as possible before Halloween. Citizens of nearby towns like West Columbia and Cayce have shown interest in the festive event, and the police department said on its Facebook page that people could pick up some copies of the “BOOed” cards from their station. They are encouraging BOOed participants to share the event with other communities.
Businesses like PrintSouth Printing, Inc. have already been BOOed. After being BOOed, participants are asked to post a picture of their postcard with #WeveBeenBOOed and tag Springdale PD on Facebook. Springdale PD’s goal is to initiate neighborhood contacts and spread the Halloween spirit.
The municipal clerk for the town, Tare’ Stapp, came up with the idea. You can find more information or keep up with the event on Springdale PD’s Facebook page.
