Wreck near Fairview causes serious injuries, several transported to trauma center

Fairview, SC (Paul Kirby) – A wreck near Fairview and Charles Town Roads threw a child passenger from one vehicle and trapped at least one more in the wreckage for a short time. The accident, which happened about 2:45 p.m., involved a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer truck hauling silica, a sand by-product.

Firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene and quickly began to assess the situation. Once a unit from Lexington County EMS arrived, several helicopters were requested for transport, but later cancelled. Eventually, at least one ambulance left the scene with the EMS crew in the rear attending to the patient, and a firefighter behind the wheel.

Currently, the condition of the patients is unknown. The SCHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
