Nucor expanding in Lexington County, adding 60 new jobs
Swansea, S.C. (Paul Kirby) – Nucor Building Systems, a leading manufacturer of custom, pre-engineered metal building systems, is growing its existing operations in Lexington County. The company’s $7 million investment is projected to create approximately 60 new jobs.
Nucor Building Systems has been operating in Lexington County since 1995 and provides sophisticated metal building solutions created exclusively for its customers’ unique applications. All Nucor products are designed by in-house, registered engineers and supported by a network of more than 1,200 authorized builders serving all of North America.
To expand its Lexington County operations, located at 200 Whetstone Road in Swansea, S.C., the company will be adding 57,000 square feet to its existing facility. Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in the coming weeks, and interested applicants should visit www.nucor.com for more information.
S.C. Governor Henry McMaster said of the expansion, “The fact that Nucor Building Systems has chosen to expand in South Carolina, continuing to invest in our people, is something for which our state should be proud. This sends a signal to the world that South Carolina remains open for business.”
Lexington County Council Chairman Debbie Summers echoed McMaster sentiments and added, “Nucor’s growth of operations is resounding proof that Lexington County offers favorable economic conditions for all industries. This expansion will be of mutual benefit to both Nucor and the county; we hope to grow because of its impact here and that Nucor continues to flourish as it establishes its future with Lexington County.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project.
