Lexington 3 expands one to one technology initiative to first graders
Batesburg-Leesville, SC - On Monday, October 22nd, first graders at B-L Primary School began receiving their very own Chromebooks, thus expanding Lexington Three’s 1:1 (one to one) Technology Initiative to include all children in the first through twelfth grades. While Lexington Three’s first grade students were often engaged in digital environments to further their learning last year through shared classroom devices, this 1:1 initiative will allow teachers to leverage digital learning to an even higher degree.
In preparation for this roll out, all first grade students are currently enjoying Computer Science classes in the B-L Primary School Media Center with Media Specialist Amy Bedenbaugh and Media Assistant Dee Stewart. Lesson plans have also been designed to familiarize students with logging in and accessing gSuite Apps, specifically Google Classroom for workflow.
While the students are busy learning, BLPS first grade teachers continue preparing for this transition as well by working with the Digital Learning Coaches to prepare professional learning opportunities focused on classroom management in digital environments, Google Classroom for workflow and other strategies to increase student engagement.
