Lexington County high school bands place 2nd and 3rd in 2A, and 2nd in 1A State Finals
Spring Valley, SC (Paul Kirby) – Two Lexington County School District One high school bands placed in the top three at the 2018 SCBDA 2A State Championships at Spring Valley High School Saturday. The Pelion High School Marching Panther Band won 2nd place, and the Gilbert High School Marching Indian Band won third. Pendleton High School, located in the small town of Pendleton, SC near Clemson, took the overall 1st place honors.
The two District One school bands swapped finishes from the week prior when they both competed in the 2A Lower State Finals which were held at White Knoll High School. That week, Gilbert led, and Pelion was just behind them. Lexington County School District Four’s Swansea Tiger Band also made it to state competition on Saturday. They finished 9th.
In the SBDA 1A competition, the Batesburg-Leesville Marching Panther Band took the 2nd place win at the SCBDA State Finals which they hosted.
All of these students should be congratulated for their dedication, perseverance, and all the hard work it takes to make it to the finals. They also couldn’t do this without the dedication of their directors, staff, and a large group of parents who work so hard to make this happen each week. Great work kids!
