Cayce DPS will begin enforcing new moped laws
Cayce, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - Cayce Department of Public Safety will begin enforcing new moped laws November 19.
These new laws require:
- All mopeds operated on a public highway be registered and licensed with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles in the same fashion as passenger vehicles pursuant to the new law,
- All operators of a moped have either a driver's license or a Class G moped operator's license,
- All drivers under the age of 21 to wear a helmet,
- A moped driving along a multi-lane highway be operated in the farthest right lane except when making a left turn or traveling in the farthest right lane is unsafe.
Mopeds are still not required to be insured or pay property taxes in South Carolina.
