Sheriff’s deputies on the scene of a possible stabbing near Pine Grove

Pine Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has deputies trying to sort through the details of how a man was wounded early Monday morning in the Pine Grove area of the county off Dunn Lane. A call regarding a man being injured came in at approximately 4:40 a.m.

Lexington County 911 telecommunicators dispatched the call to EMS and fire service first responders as a stabbing. Sheriff’s deputies were also immediately dispatched, and first responders waited to ensure that they had the scene secure before they proceeded in. This is standard operating procedure to protect the unarmed EMS and fire service personnel.

Eventually, a man was transported to the trauma center at Palmetto Richland by the EMS unit. A firefighter from the Pine Grove station was driving so that the medical crew could provide a higher level of care to the patient. This normally indicates that the person being transported is in serious condition.

The sheriff’s department has not released any information regarding this incident and may not for some time. If the man were stabbed, the deputies who are assigned to road duties would notify their supervisor. That supervisor would then request additional resources like crime scene technicians and investigators from the Major Crimes division. We have requested additional information and will update this story as we learn more.
