Batesburg-Leesville Rotary Club honors students from BLHS

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – Members of the Batesburg-Leesville Rotary Club honored two Batesburg-Leesville High School seniors at their weekly meeting on November 13 for their positive impact on the school in the town.

Lane Janney represented the month of September. He is a member of the football team, basketball team and Beta Club. After he graduates, he plans to attend Piedmont Technical College for two years, and then transfer to Newberry College for a degree in physical education. His plan is to become a high school coach and teacher. Batesburg-Leesville High School Principal Sonya Bryant said that although Lane has been injured for much of the football season, you cannot miss him each week cheering on his teammates from the sidelines as loud as he can the entire game.

Representing the month of October was Student Body President Lydia Swygert. She is also Future Farmers of America President and a member of Beta Club. She plans to attend Clemson University after graduation and major in nursing. Principal Bryant said Lydia is an amazing Student Body President who is a true servant that does tons of behind the scenes work without ever asking for anything in return.
