Irmo community comes together for Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Irmo, SC (Angelica Iglesias) – The town of Irmo held its Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Irmo Town Park gazebo beside the Irmo Police Department.

The 2018 Christmas tree included many with colorful lights and a huge bright star which was beautiful. Students of all ages from Irmo Elementary School sang Christmas songs for the crowd of families and people from across the town and the surrounding community. Then, Santa made an appearance to take some pictures with the children.

After the performances, classic holiday songs played over speakers while the Irmo Fire District provided free pepperoni or cheese pizza, and employees of Dunbar Funeral Home gave out hot chocolate with marshmallows, cookies and brownies.

People sat in the amphitheater in front of the gazebo and enjoyed their snacks, the music, and the beauty of the Christmas lights. Trees around the entire park were also lit up with colorful lights along with a large likeness of Santa Clause waving in front of the small pond of water. It was a great night to be in Irmo enjoying the sounds and sights of the season with family, friends, and neighbors.
