Man arrested by Lexington PD for attempted armed robbery
Lexington, SC – Chief Terrence Green announced Friday the arrest of Jesse Wayne Richards, Age 31 of Lexington, South Carolina, who fled the state after his involvement in an attempted armed robbery that took place on July 10, 2018 in the Town of Lexington.
On the afternoon of the incident, Jesse Richards drove a co-defendant, Cooper Cole, age 17 of Lexington, South Carolina, to the Towne Centre II shopping complex, which is located on the 900 block of North Lake Drive in Lexington, South Carolina. Cooper Cole approached an elderly female victim in the parking lot with a knife in his hand and demanded money. The victim did not have any money to give and Cooper Cole fled from the scene on foot but was later picked up in the vehicle driven by Jesse Richards.
Jesse Richards is the step-father of Cooper Cole and he fled from South Carolina after this incident. He was arrested in Tennessee on the Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy warrants and was extradited to South Carolina on November 14, 2018 to the Lexington County Detention Center. When seen by a judge at Lexington County Bond Court, Jesse Richards was given a bond of $30,000.
Cooper Cole has been arrested on July 30, 2018 and he was charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy. He was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he was given a bond of $3,000.00.
