Fatality reported in Platt Springs Road wreck
Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) - A wreck that was reported to Lexington County's Emergency 911 Center at Platt Springs Rd. near Cross Rd. is reported to have a fatality on the scene. The call, which came in just before 3:20 p.m. Sunday, was dispatched to first responders as a car versus a motorcycle. Callers reported that the cyclist was thrown from the bike.
A crew from Lexington County EMS arrived and quickly confirmed that there was a deceased victim there. Firefighters quickly reported they were shutting down Platt Springs Rd. as a precaution to protect the emergency crews. Deputies from the Lexington County Coroner's Office were notified and were enroute. This is a county road so the accident will be investigated by troopers from the SC Highway Patrol. This investigation will probably keep a portion of Platt Springs Road for some time. The coroner's office will only release the name of the victim after they have properly notified the deceased person's next of kin.
