Fatality reported in Platt Springs Road wreck

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) - A wreck that was reported to Lexington County's Emergency 911 Center at Platt Springs Rd. near Cross Rd. is reported to have a fatality on the scene. The call, which came in just before 3:20 p.m. Sunday, was dispatched to first responders as a car versus a motorcycle. Callers reported that the cyclist was thrown from the bike.

A crew from Lexington County EMS arrived and quickly confirmed that there was a deceased victim there. Firefighters quickly reported they were shutting down Platt Springs Rd. as a precaution to protect the emergency crews. Deputies from the Lexington County Coroner's Office were notified and were enroute. This is a county road so the accident will be investigated by troopers from the SC Highway Patrol. This investigation will probably keep a portion of Platt Springs Road for some time. The coroner's office will only release the name of the victim after they have properly notified the deceased person's next of kin.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
