Toys for Tots "Fill the MRAP" campaign a success
Lexington, SC – The annual Toys for Tots “Fill the MRAP” campaign ended on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, after a series of donation events that took place at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Kmart, Target, Walmart, and Mellow Mushroom.
As in years past, the focus of the Toys for Tots campaign has been to fill the Lexington Police Department Emergency Services Team (E.S.T.) MRAP vehicle with toy donations. The support and engagement from the Town of Lexington community and businesses was overwhelming and the MRAP was filled several times over with toys which included bicycles, remote control cars, dolls, building blocks and many other excellent toy gifts.
Along with the generous donations by families who visited officers at the Toys for Tots events, many key business partnerships made this event an even greater success with donations of stuffed animals from PetSmart, World Market and Kay Jewelers. Gift cards, monetary donations and discounts from Learning Express, Kmart, Target, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, and Mellow Mushroom, gave Chief Terrence Green the opportunity to go on several shopping sprees where he spent over $2,000 in purchasing additional toys for the Toys for Tots "Fill the MRAP" campaign.
Chief Terrence Green says, “The Lexington Police Department has long supported the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation with our annual toy donation campaign and this year’s campaign was a great success again from the generosity of the Town of Lexington community and local businesses. Many thanks to you as Christmas morning will be bright for children in need throughout the Midlands.”
