Family displaced by fire in Belle Meade early Wednesday morning

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – Units from the Lexington County Fire Service responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Yashica Court early Wednesday morning. Yashica Court is in the Belle Meade subdivision off Charleston Highway. The fire was dispatched just before 4:00 a.m.

First arriving units from LCFS observed heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of the residence. Firefighters went into action attacking the blaze and brought it under control in 17 minutes. According to Harrison Cahill, spokesman for Lexington County, automatic aid was provided by the Cayce Department of Public Safety and Lexington County EMS. A tanker was also requested from Sandy Run Calhoun County, but it was cancelled prior to its responding.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and the American Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
