White Knoll Timberwolves wrestling competes at Airport High School in Eagle’s Duals Championship
Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – The White Knoll High School Varsity Wrestling Team competed at Airport High School recently with 16 other schools in the Eagle Duals Championship. According to WKHS Athletic Director Dean Howell, the T-Wolves team started the morning off with a sloppy win over Columbia High 42-28 while forfeiting 2 weights and losing one by injury default. Later in the tournament, the team would refocus and dominate the rest of the event.
The young men from White Knoll would eventually go on to defeat Swansea 60-12 and High Point 66-9 to advance to the semifinals. Howell said on the athletic’s website that the team got stronger as the event continued, and the boys went on to defeat Camden 60-18 to advance to the final matches. In the finals, they defeated Airport 52-13 to claim the team title. The varsity team overall record is now 17-3. Next, they will compete in the Wildcat Duals next Friday and Saturday at Lexington High School.
Howell said that notable wrestlers for the event include Ty Shealy who went 5-0, Jared Hudson, also at 5-0, Thomas Backus who shutout his opponents 5-0, Quinten Dodd at 4-0, Nolon Shannon with another 5-0 shutout, and Jack Scott at 3-0.
