Mobile home burns in Red Bank Sunday night, residents displaced
Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home burned inside a small park at 159 Weaver Drive Sunday night bringing Lexington County Public Safety resources from across the central part of the county to the scene. The fire, which started just before 10:30 p.m., totaled the single-wide home even though the firefighters brought it under control in less than 30 minutes.
When the first firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported that smoke and flames were coming out of the front of the home. As more teams arrived, they put a crew together and advanced a hose inside to attack the fire. More manpower and equipment joined in the fight and they quickly had the flames knocked down. As the battalion chief arrived and command of the fire scene was transferred to him, the firefighters switched from fire suppression to actively searching for hot spots and removing the smoke from the home.
Multiple fire stations had resources on the scene including manpower and equipment from Red Bank, Lexington, Pine Grove, South Congaree, Edmund, and other county fire stations. There were also EMS personnel from Lexington County on standby for the safety of all those present. The residents were displaced by the fire and the electricity had to be disconnected from the home by the utility company that services the area.
