Shed fire on English Drive may cause some road congestion during morning commute

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A shed fire that was dispatched on English Drive off Cromer Road Tuesday morning could cause some traffic woes for commuters who are trying to avoid or access I-20. Fire resources were dispatched just before 6:00 a.m. When the first truck from Lexington County’s Corley Mill station arrived, they found that the shed had burned to the point that it almost flat on the ground, but other structures were threatened.

The fire crews had to hand pull their hose around other structures into an area that was difficult to access. Once they were able to get to the shed and put water on the fire, they brought in under control in minutes, preventing the fire from spreading to other exposures. Although a fire truck and battalion chief from the Irmo Fire District was originally enroute to assist, they were cleared to return to their station before arriving on scene.
