Gaston police makes arrest after finding drugs, guns during traffic stop
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – On Wednesday, Gaston Police Department’s Sergeant Marzol stopped a car in the 5200 block of Hwy 321 south for speeding. When he approached the car, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After establishing probable cause, he searched the vehicle and located both drugs and guns.
According to the department’s spokesman, Major Stephen Watkins, police located approximately 50 grams of marijuana, 13 grams of cocaine, schedule 4 prescription pills not prescribed to the suspect, $1930 in cash, and two pistols. The drugs were concealed in “fake” soda and other spray type cans that had bottoms that screwed off.
Watkins said that the Gaston Police Department has charged Dustin Rabon with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine, and the schedule 4 narcotics. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was checked through NCIC and was found to be a runaway. The Columbia Police Department was notified, and she was turned over to them to be returned to her guardians. Rabon was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
