Lexington Medical Center accepting applications for the Partners Program

West Columbia, SC – Calling all Lexington County high school students! Lexington Medical Center is accepting applications for the Partners Program, a summer internship that introduces some of the best and brightest students in the Midlands to careers in the health care industry. The Partners Program is celebrating its 29th year.

During a three-week session, participants complete three rotations through a variety of clinical areas, learning about various careers in health care including professional and allied health.

Each participant must be a Lexington County resident, a student attending a school within one of the Lexington County school districts, or a dependent of a Lexington Medical Center employee. The program is for rising high school juniors and seniors with a good GPA and a sincere interest in a health care field.

The application deadline is February 24, 2019. After completing the application, some students will be asked to come to an in-person interview with hospital staff. Due to the high volume of applicants, not all that apply will be selected for an interview. Interested participants can find the application on the hospital website at LexMed.com or by speaking with their school guidance counselor.

The session dates are June 10 – 28, 2019 and July 8 – 26, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with afternoon activities from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. two days per week.

At the end of the program, the Lexington Medical Center Foundation awarded a rising senior from each Lexington County high school and one rising senior from home/private schools with a $1,000 book scholarship for their freshman year of college.

The Partners Program is made possible thanks to support from the Lexington Medical Center Foundation. Over the years, some of the graduates of the program have returned to Lexington Medical Center to work after completing their education.
