UPDATE: Springdale officer investigating two shot, one injured on Sightler Drive Sunday night

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) – Springdale police officer, Lexington County EMS personnel, and firefighters from the county’s Pine Grove Fire Station were dispatched to a report of several people who were shot off Sightler Drive Sunday night. The first responders were dispatched around 8:00 p.m.

Police officers were saying via radio that it was believed that a woman who had been shot left the scene walking toward Platt Springs Road. There also appeared to be at least two more victims at the location of the shooting and one that might be in serious condition. A K-9 unit arrived and the area was being flooded by law enforcement officers looking for the woman who fled in the direction of the Springdale House & Gardens. Officers said that they were being told the woman was not armed. We now understand that she eventually returned to the scene where she accepted care from EMS.

EMS units transported two people from the scene with gunshot wounds, and one other injured individual to the trauma center at Palmetto Richland. A firefighter was driving the ambulance which normally indicates that the condition of the patient is serious or that the truck was transporting multiple patients.

Springdale officers and their chief have now asked SLED to assist in the investigation. We will release more information as it becomes available.
