Jackknifed tractor trailer has I-20 blocked at Cedarcrest Road overpass

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – A tractor trailer truck has jackknifed on I-20 in the west lanes near the 56 mm right at the Cedarcrest overpass. The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. It has all the west lanes blocked. Fire service units are on the scene along with law enforcement officers. There have been reports that fuel may be leaking from the truck. The county has a haz-mat team enroute but some of the emergency equipment has struggled to get to the accident because of the traffic that’s backed up for some distance. The construction zone is making the situation worse.

Motorists must detour in order to get past the wreck. Law enforcement officers are trying to get the cars closest to the accident turned around if that’s possible. Both the Highway #1 and Sunset Boulevard exits would be good choices for bypassing the tie up. It may take some time to clear the accident.
