Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – A fire heavily damaged a mobile home in the 1800 block of Pine Street in Pelion Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported shortly after 4:00 p.m. and firefighters arrived quickly to find about 25% of the home was on fire. The crews pulled several attack hoses off their engine and began fighting the fire while tanker trucks shuttled them water from a nearby fire hydrant.
According to Harrison Cahill, spokesman for Lexington County, it took 20 county personnel to bring the fire under control in under an hour. They used seven fire trucks and an EMS unit was on standby while the fire was extinguished. Cahill said there was no estimated dollar loss, and the cause of the fire appears to be accidental. No one was injured by the fire.
