Award-Winning speaker inspires Lexington Three staff members
Batesburg-Leesville, SC - Staff members at B-L Elementary School had the privilege of participating in a professional development learning opportunity with John “Jed” Dearybury on Tuesday, February 12th in their school’s Media Center. Mr. Dearybury is an educator from Spartanburg, SC who has a long list of accomplishments, including being named as a state winner for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching and a South Carolina Teacher of the Year Top Five Finalist. Currently, Jed works with the Palmetto State Teachers Association as their Director of Professional Development and Communications.
The topic of Jed’s presentation was “A Class That Laughs” and it focused on creating a community in every classroom where students build each other up, connect as a team, encourage collaboration, and take risks as learners. The topic was selected by district administrators because it directly ties into Lexington Three’s objectives of growth mindset and personalized learning for all students.
Staff members at B-L Primary, B-L Middle and B-L High Schools will have the pleasure of working with Mr. Dearybury later in the year.
