Cayce Public Safety advises motorist to avoid airport Thursday for Vice President Pence’s visit

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Vice President Pence will be visiting the Midlands Thursday afternoon with SC Senator Tim Scott (R). They will be look at Opportunity Zones like one that is in West Columbia. Senator Scott was a strong supporter of Opportunity Zones and worked to have them included in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

The vice president is expected to arrive on Air Force Two around 11:45 a.m. and will then travel to The Meeting Place Church in east Columbia for speeches. Afterward, he will tour several Opportunity Zones.

Chief Byron Snellgrove of the Cayce Department of Public Safety says motorists can expect delays on Airport Boulevard, especially from the time the vice president is expected to arrive until after 3:00 p.m. If you do have to travel in that area, expect delays.
