Lexington County coroner identifies man who died in wreck on SC Hwy. 6 Thursday

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the Lexington man who died in a multi-vehicle collision in southern Lexington County late Thursday. The accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. in the 2000 block of SC Hwy. 6 near Sam Craft Road.

According to Coroner Fisher, Michael Ludwig, 42, of Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. Fisher said it was determined that Ludwig was traveling eastbound toward Swansea when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle. Although Ludwig was wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred, he died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
