West Columbia police officers searching for man who brandished a gun in credit union parking lot

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – The West Columbia Police Department had officers searching for a man who brandished a gun at someone in the parking lot of the Safe Federal Credit Union on 12th Street between Jarvis Klapman and Meeting Street yesterday. They were being assisted by K-9 officers from the Cayce Department of Public Safety. Assistant Chief Scott Morrison of the West Columbia Department said the man did not rob the bank when he committed the crime by drawing the weapon on someone outside just before 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Morrison said that the suspect is described as a black male who is wearing a white shirt and dark pants. He said that residents and businesses should stay alert and use caution if they think they’ve spotted the man. If you sight the suspect, Morrison says you should call 911. He also asked that anyone who might have any information about this crime call the WCPD at (803) 794-0721 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME SC.
