Another fire at the Delta Motel destroys one unit, no injuries reported

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – A fire at the Delta Motel on Augusta Road near I-26 destroyed one unit before firefighters could bring it under control early Wednesday. Operations Chief Marquis Solomon of the West Columbia Fire Department said that their department responded about 1:55 a.m. When the first fire trucks arrived, they found the building showing heavy flames and smoke. He said that firefighters made their attack and brought the fire under control quickly, but that one unit was destroyed.

Solomon said that they received assistance from the Lexington County Fire Service as well as the Cayce Department of Public Safety. He also said no one was injured as a result of the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the West Columbia Police and Fire Departments.
