Town of Chapin recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Chapin, SC - The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Town of Chapin by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This was awarded to the town for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). According to the GFOA, this acknowledgement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
On Tuesday, March 5, Representative Chip Huggins who represents the Chapin area at the SC State House presented the award to Town of Chapin Finance and its Administrative Director, Laura Culler, in recognition for preparing the award-winning CAFR. Mayor David Knight and Councilmember Al Koon both echoed sentiments of praise for Mrs. Culler and the accounting firm Mauldin & Jenkins for their hard work throughout this process.
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
