Groucho’s of Lexington donates a portion of sales to White Knoll High School Naval JROTC

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Groucho’s of Lexington recently helped the cadets of White Knoll High School’s Naval JROTC program Booster Club by donating a portion of their total sales one evening to the cadets. On Thursday, March 7th, 2019, the management of the Lexington location were able to write the program a check for almost $190.00 to be used for various expenses associated with the program.

According to their website, the White Knoll High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) works to instill in their student cadets personal responsibility, the values of citizenship, service to the community, and a sense of accomplishment. This is accomplished through a wide range of field and classroom activities utilizing a military structure and their core values of honor, courage, and commitment.

As with many extracurricular programs, the NJROTC receives very little financial support from the school district. In many ways, this is by design. Fund raising helps teach the students financial responsibility and the importance of working as a team to get the things they want above the basics.

Instead of taxpayer’s dollars, the NJROTC Booster Club helps support the student-cadets of White Knoll High School in all facets of the program. They organize and facilitate fund raising activities, provide assistance with unit trips and activities, promote and assist with unit community service and outreach, and help promote public interest in the unit and its activities.

The White Knoll NJROTC Booster Club usually meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the NJROTC classroom. Please contact an instructor at the high school for current club officers and information.
