Lexington School District Three bus involved in accident with car

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C.— On Thursday, March 28th at approximately 5:30 pm, one of Lexington County School District Three’s school buses was involved in an incident with a car at the corner of Smith Street and East Columbia Avenue in Batesburg-Leesville.

Eight primary and elementary school-aged children and one driver were aboard the bus at the time of the accident. None of the passengers on board the bus sustained any injuries that required further medical treatment. The driver of the car was reportedly transported by EMS to a local hospital to be examined.

The parents of all of the children who were on board the school bus were immediately notified of the incident by District Three administrators. Seven of those parents came to the scene to pick up their child. One child, at the request of his/her parent, was taken home on an alternate bus.

The incident is being handled by the B-L Police Department.
