Irmo Police Department Records Division recognized by Texas Roadhouse in March for excellence by loc

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) - The members of the Irmo Police Department’s Records Division were recognized as the Texas Roadhouse ‘Local Heroes of the Month’ for February and March of 2019. Although it is difficult to tell by looking at these ladies, they represent almost 70 years of service to the Town of Irmo and the Irmo Community.

Their team including Senior Administrative Assistant Gail Lancaster, along with Administrative Assistants Bettye Anderson, Tina Sellers, and Dee Terry directly manage the 10’s of thousands of police records at the department. This includes the processing of the roughly 2000 police reports that are written each year along with filing records requests from civilians and attorneys.

The team helps prepare arrest case files in a thorough and efficient manner. The hundreds of arrests made by the Irmo Police Department each year require lots of documents to be processed. Police administrators said via social media, “These women are not data entry specialists, they are highly skilled assistants that directly impact the thoroughness and organization of our agency and our records and record-keeping system.” They explained that each of these women plays a vital role in the success of the Police Department. This team is the group that works behind the scenes in making sure everything gets completed. Along with handling the records, they are the staff members that greet community residents and guests when they visit or call the police station. According to department leaders, “They always provide a friendly greeting and strive to handle the needs of our community. Without the work of these women, our officers would not be able to do their job effectively.”

Although you won’t see the ladies patrolling the streets, their role is extremely vital in keeping the Irmo community safe. For these reasons, the division’s members were selected to receive the Texas Roadhouse Local Heroes of the Month award. They all were presented with a gift bucket from the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo.
