SC Highway Patrol investigating hit & run vehicle vs. pedestrian wreck on Platt Springs Road

Red Bank/White Knoll, SC (Paul Kirby) – The SC Highway Patrol’s M.A.I.T. team is on the scene of a serious accident involving a vehicle versus pedestrian on Platt Springs Road near McCartha Road Monday morning. This is close to the Carolina Springs Schools. The vehicle hit the pedestrian sometime around 5:00 a.m. and then fled the scene. According to Lance Corporal David Jones of the patrol, the person has life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.

Jones said that Platt Springs Road was blocked while the troopers of the M.A.I.T. team worked. This team is specially trained and equipped to investigate serious crashes. They collect evidence, carefully map out the scene, and perform other integrated tasks in case it’s discovered that some crime has occurred. Their presence does not indicate that something illegal has happened, simply that because of the seriousness of the accident, additional documentation is necessary.
