West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – Tem Miles, the mayor pro-tem of the City of West Columbia, is kicking off his door-to-door, shoe leather campaign for mayor tonight with a fundraising event. It is being hosted by current West Columbia mayor Bobby Horton and prominent West Columbia businessmen Bill Mooneyhan and Steve Cohen. It will be held at the Grecian Gardens on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia starting at 5:30 p.m.
Miles announced last year that he would run for mayor after current mayor Bobby Horton said he wouldn’t seek the office again. Horton quickly endorsed Miles who has served the people of West Columbia for two terms on council.
Miles is a partner at the McKay Firm, a law firm in Columbia. He is a Citadel and Thomas M. Cooley School of Law graduate. As West Columbia’s mayor pro-tem, he is active in the community as a member of the Cayce West Columbia Jaycees, a past president of the Greater Columbia Citadel Club and member of the Epworth Early Intervention Center's Fund Development Committee. He is married to Cassie and they have three children.
Miles says that if he’s elected, he will listen to his constituents and respect their opinions and views. He promises he will be honest and candid with the citizens on every issue and will conduct city business openly and transparently. He also has pledged to preserve low taxes, great city services, and an openness to businesses that have made West Columbia great.
